Most frequent questions and answers

As of right now, the easiest way to exercise your right of access is to send an e-mail to the publicly available data protection e-mail address of companies.

We have compiled an extensive list of 150+ companies, so that you don’t have to waste time finding them. When you’ve decided who you wish to send your request to, you will be able to supply additional information so that the company will have an easier job identifying you.

When you click send, Revealu sends out an automatically generated e-mail template based on the data you provided (your name, e-mail address and any additional information). Revealu is not part of the process here on: the selected company will reply directly to you, as Revealu is not your authorized representative in this process, just a tool to make life easier.

It takes only a few minutes. You will first have to register with your e-mail address and name. We will send out a confirmation link to the e-mail you’ve provided, so that we can be sure that you are indeed who you say you are. You will only be eligible to send requests once you have confirmed access to your e-mail account. After that, sending out your first request only takes a few seconds.

Sadly, we can not guarantee that. Should a company fail to answer your request sent with Revealu within the legal deadline of maximum 30 working days (varies by country), you should contact the relevant data protection authority to take the matter further if you wish.

According to the GDPR, companies have to perform verification procedures that enable them to verify the identity of the requester at a satisfactory level. These procedures vary from company to company – some feel that a request made through Revealu is enough, as the requestee’s e-mail address is verified by Revealu’s service. However, other companies need to ask more verification questions to feel secure.
